MoDOT’s St. Louis District Safety Design Build project is aimed at making safety improvements at 31 locations across Franklin and St. Charles Counties. Over the next 10 years, these improvements are expected to reduce the number of fatal accidents and serious injury crashes. EDSI was proud to be a part of this project that provided an innovative approach to optimizing the implementation of safety improvements defined by Crash Modification Factors for the greatest cost benefit ratio. Improvements consisted of High Friction Surface Treatment, guardrail, striping, rumble strips, and signing. In November 2017, this project received a National Roadway Safety Award from the Federal Highway Administration and the Roadway Safety Foundation. The project was honored a second time in February 2019 with an ACEC Missouri Engineering Excellence Honor Award. Further information on the project can be found at: Safety Design Video
