Routes T and DD Bridge Replacements -
    Stoddard County, MO

    Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)

EDSI, as the prime and sole consultant, completed the design of two MoDOT replacement bridges in rural Stoddard County. The tasks included bridge structural design; hydrologic and hydraulic analysis; preliminary roadway profile development; and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates. Route T over Turkey Creek is a single-span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge with integral end bents supported on CIP concrete piles. Route DD over Drainage Ditch No. 1 is a three-span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge with integral end bents and intermediate bents supported on CIP concrete piles. The three-span arrangement was selected to replace the existing Route DD single-span truss to maintain the existing approach roadway profile and farm entrances adjacent to the bridge and to eliminate right-of-way (ROW) acquisition and potential project time delays for ROW acquisition. The designs were completed on an accelerated schedule with Signed and Sealed Plans, Cost Estimate, and Special Provisions due in less than 5 months after Notice to Proceed. EDSI also performed Construction Support Services.

Route 76 over Table Rock Lake -
    Stone County, MO

    Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)

The project comprised the rehabilitation of the existing Route 76 Bridge over Table Rock Lake, with traffic maintained during construction. EDSI, as a subconsultant, was responsible for approach roadway design and maintenance of traffic and design of full-depth precast bridge deck panels. EDSI participated in a conceptual level design charette for the evaluation of bridge deck replacement alternatives. EDSI also provided conceptual-level alternative cost estimates for the approach roadway design and maintenance of traffic, associated with bridge deck replacement alternatives. The approach roadway profile design included vertical adjustments consistent with the new bridge deck elevation requirements. Roadway width adjustments at the tie-ins to the bridge and new guardrail were also included. EDSI will provide services during construction.

Route N over Contrary Creek –
    Osage County, MO

    Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)

EDSI, as the prime consultant, is currently completing the replacement of the Route N Bridge over Contrary Creek. The project includes bridge structural design; hydrologic and hydraulic analysis; preliminary and final roadway design; survey; and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates. The bridge is a single-span NU girder bridge on integral end bents supported by H-piles. The roadway and bridge design were coordinated with the H&H modeling to eliminate the need for permanent right-of-way acquisition. This project is currently under construction.

Interstate 44 / Interstate 270 to Mraz Interchange – St. Louis County, MO

    Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)

EDSI was a subconsultant for this expedited MoDOT project. EDSI’s responsibilities for the project included the design of a ramp bridge which carries traffic traveling from Interstate 270 southbound to Interstate 44 westbound. The bridge is a single span prestressed concrete NU-girder bridge with integral end bents. EDSI was responsible for the Design Layout Drawings and the Final Plans, Special Provisions, Quantities, and Cost Estimate.

This project received the ACEC Missouri Grand Award for Engineering Excellence in February 2019 as well as the APWA St. Louis Branch Public Works Transportation project of the Year Award in June 2019.

Replacement of Route 79 Bridges over Ramsey and Fox Creeks – Pike County, MO

    Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)

The project comprised the design of two bridge replacements – a prestressed concrete girder bridge with encased pile intermediate bents (Ramsey Creek) and a reinforced concrete slab span with pile-supported intermediate bents (Fox Creek), both with integral end bents. EDSI was a subconsultant for this project. Bridge tasks completed by EDSI included independent calculation of bridge quantities and preparation of bills of reinforcing steel and reconciliation of compiled quantities and reinforcing bar bills with those completed by the prime consultant. EDSI also provided engineering and technical services in the preparation of roadway plan sheets for Route 79 bridge over Fox Creek near Clarksville, which included preliminary plans, right-of- way plans, and final design plans.

    Route 141 & Interstate 44 Design-Build –
    St. Louis County, MO

    Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)

This Design-Build Project was undertaken to improve the mobility of the Interstate 44 interchange at Missouri Route 141 and along Route 141 north of the interchange. The project included two new bridge structures within the interchange, improvements to ramp configurations, addition of roundabouts, relocation of a Park-n-Ride lot, and improved turning movements (ThrU Turns) at intersections along Route 141 north of the interchange. The new bridge structures consist of a fly-over ramp bridge which carries vehicles from southbound Route 141 to eastbound Interstate 44 and a C-D road bridge over Route 141. The flyover bridge is a 12-span chorded precast prestressed concrete girder structure, partially within a tightly curved horizontal alignment. As a subconsultant, EDSI’s responsibilities for this Design-Build project included surveying (elevation checks, bridge clearance checks, verification of provided surveys), right-of-way acquisition documents, signal redesign (3 intersections, including temporary), and Traffic Control Plans for project limits south of the Meramec River.
